Penzberg - the lively town between Lake Starnberg and the foot of the Bavarian Alps. Hardly more than memory is left over from the times of the mining works. Today, the modern town has more than 15,000 inhabitants, and has plenty to offer. Well-known international companies (such as LaRoche, MAN, Hoerbiger) offer modern jobs in an attractive landscape. The former mining town turned into a friendly town which invites the holiday-maker to stay. A slagheap of almost 70 metres in height, which was built up during the many years of mining activities, offers a fascinating view of the charming landscape of the foothills of the Alps and the numerous mountain tops. Today the slagheap is a recreational area, much-visited all the year around. In summer, strollers can relax, and in winter, skiers have a small tow lift as well as a cross-country ski run. The spacious modern indoor swimming pool with a large warm-water wave pool, an outdoor hot-water Jacuzzi pool, saunas, solariums, and a pleasant restaurant have something to offer for everybody. The town centre has numerous well-equipped shops. Well-developed cycle tracks and paths help our guests to explore the surroundings of Penzberg. |
